Product Story
This 1-of-1 piece was sourced, designed, and reworked by our creative director, and designer Stacey Lee.
Our Rescue Effort Tees are a critique of the cruel cycles of fast fashion from seed to sale, to consumer manipulation. The hand-drawn illustrations represent metaphors around themes of breaking free from consumerism. Each garment contains a double-sided print screen-printed locally in Toronto, Canada, at a family-run, independently-owned printshop. Every t-shirt is a second-hand garment that has been individually sourced and rescued from otherwise ending up in a landfill.
The t-shirts are reworked by screen printing on top of the pre-existing prints which makes each and every one of the shirts unique and gives them a new life. Virgin cotton tees can require at least 2,700 liters of water to manufacture. By repurposing existing garments we are able to skip this process, helping to save resources, and not perpetuating the negative impact that is caused by the fast fashion industry on both humans and the planet. By repurposing vintage materials for this specific garment, we've effectively conserved valuable resources in the process.
*Some of our reworked tees were originally blank and lacked pre-existing graphics.

These vintage t-shirts have been curated for excellent quality and cleaned meticulously; however, some may have imperfections and small marks that add to the character and rich history of each piece.
